Powered Belt Conveyor

Conveyor Case Studies

Powered Belt conveyors are most commonly utilized when absolute positive control of the product being conveyed is desired. The second most common use of powered belt conveyor is to convey irregularly shaped product (the product does not have a natural conveyable surface or is too short to convey on rollers). There are two common types of powered belt conveyor. The slider bed has a drive and pulley system that pulls the belt over a metal deck. This is the most economical powered belt conveyor. It is most commonly used with lighter product. The belt is in constant contact with a static surface so belt pull (caused by the friction between the belt and the metal deck) can be a limiting factor to the length of the conveyor, per drive. The belt over roller bed has a drive and pulley system that pulls the belt over gravity conveyor. In this configuration the belt pull is significantly reduced and thus the product can be heavier and the conveyor runs can be longer.
